JOINT INITIATIVES FOR YOUTH & FAMILIES
Our Initiatives
Joint Initiatives for Youth and Families recognized the need for an integrated network of community-based services and supports for children, youth and their families. With that realization, three distinct initiatives are under the contractual responsibility of Joint Initiatives for both personnel and financial administration (fiscal agent). These initiatives serve the needs of children and youth, prenatal to 21 years of age.The Alliance for Kids (prenatal-8 years)
El Paso County’s Early Childhood Council brings together organizations and individuals to work collaboratively on a high quality early childhood system for young children that includes Health, Mental Health, Family Support and Early Care and Education.
The Alliance for Kids Office of Professional Development (prenatal-8 years)
As a part of the Alliance for Kids, this project provides professional development opportunities and college scholarships to early care and education providers to improve their professional qualifications.
Senate Bill 94 (10-17 years)
The 4th Judicial District community based detention alternatives program is a statewide initiative designed to provide a continuum of detention services for youth, ages 10-17, engaged in the juvenile justice system. This initiative screens and assesses detention youth, manages the statewide juvenile detention bed cap, and uses the Wraparound Model. The Wraparound Model “wraps” individualized services and supports around the youth and his/her family rather than forcing them to fit into a pre-determined program in an artificial environment.
House Bill 1451 (birth-21 years)
This initiative employs a collaborative management process to address the needs of
children and youth, ages birth-21, engaged in multiple agencies. This initiative also uses
the Wraparound Model.
